B team capts Kevin Harris/Nicola Ellis & A team capts Judy Ames & Mark Finlayson

WINCHESTER A

The Aspley A Team; jointly captained by Mark Finlayson and Judy Ames, won the Premier Division for the 2nd year running and third year out of the last four, with a record of only two rubbers lost out of the 64 played.

This is the second best performance in the history of the Apsley League; beaten only by the Winchester side captained by Brian Birch some 20 years ago, who managed a clean sweep for the season.

As usual the season culminated in a head to head against Hampshire Club in September. This was a high quality match with three of the rubbers going to a third set. Highlight of the day was Nick Ame's performance as he was carried through the mixed doubles by his sister only to team up with Elliot Wood and proceed to play the lead in their comfortable victory over The Hampshire Club number one pair.

The regular members of the A team for 2009 were:

Stuart Levy
Duncan Trew
Charlie Dryden
James Crawford
Nick Ames

Hannah Crawford
Charli Ames
Liz Davies
Helen Eckersley
Claire Coomer

With guest appearances from Elliot Wood and Josh Girling.

WINCHESTER B

The Winchester B team co-captained by Nicola Ellis and Kevin Harris had a fantastic season and having won the first division for the first time have returned to the Premier division.  It was very close with 3 teams vying for the top 2 places, and only decided by winning our final match of the season, having lost just one match to a very strong Littleton team and a very closely fought draw at Thornden.

Other regular players were:

Ladies
Monica Finlayson
Nicki Evans
Nicky Davies
Georgina Newham
Pam Please

Men
Pete Sly
Mike Evans
David Trew
Mark Finlayson
Piers Cross
Chris Sellers
